Father Cat is a cat character. He is married to Mother Cat. His children are Huckle and Sally Cat. He runs a grocery store and is sometimes referred to as Grocer Cat in earlier books. His first name is John. He frequently does business with Farmer Alfalfa. He appears in the Richard Scarry books, Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video Ever, Richard Scarry's Best Counting Video Ever (as Grocer Cat), Richard Scarry's Best Learning Songs Video Ever, Richard Scarry's Best Sing-Along Mother Goose Video Ever, The Busy World of Richard Scarry (except that he is a travel agent here), and a few episodes of Busytown Mysteries (as a grocer again).
In The Busy World of Richard Scarry, Father Cat is voiced by voice director John Stocker, also the voice of Wolfgang, Pedro, Humperdinck, and Scotty Dog. Unfortunately, in Busytown Mysteries, he is credited by an unknown "Additional Voice."
