Janitor Joe is a fox who is a janitor in most places of Busytown. Including the theater, the school, etc. He first appears in Richard Scarry's Great Big Schoolhouse.
In Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video Ever, after Ned's turn with the letter N, Ned forgets the flower is dying. So he opens the window and Joe floods Miss Honey's classroom. Janitor Joe is sorry, but he was just watering the flowers. Now he is watering the flowers, the children, and everything else, causing a floody mess.
He also appears on The Busy World of Richard Scarry.

Janitor Joe is also known as "Caretaker Joe" in the British publication of Richard Scarry's Best First Book Ever.
In both publications, in the classroom, he tries to keep it neat and clean, but he slips on a bead that a girl piglet loses while stringing them for a necklace. Then on the playground, he swings way up high and drops his mop and pail.

- He is voiced by Ron Marshall in the ABC video. However, Janitor Joe's voice is very similar to Hallelujah H. Jones' voice from the 1977 Rankin/Bass Easter TV special, The Easter Bunny Is Comin' to Town.
