Tillie Hippo

Tillie Hippo (not to be confused with another anthropomorphic hippopotamus character from the movie Cats Don't Dance) is a one-time character in Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book, specifically the chapter, "A Visit with Tillie." Tillie invites guests (including Lowly Worm, Huckle Cat, and his sister [then known as "Little Sister"]) to a tea party. Tillie resembles TBWoRS's portrayal of Hilda Hippo, as she wears the same shirt and jumper (pinafore) in the book that Hilda wears in The Busy World of Richard Scarry. She first appeared in Richard Scarry's Find Your ABC's.
